Act One: The Lock on the Door

Every villain is invented. The business problems are the ones owners tell us about.

A small Georgia main street at dusk, one dark storefront wrapped in chains with a sign reading PLUMBING
Every town has one. The shop that used to show up.
Bill Moore delivers a stack of invoice envelopes to a shop owner slumped beside an old telephone
Bill Moore: "Monthly service fee. Per the agreement."The invoices still showed up on time.
The owner holds up a contract while Greedlock looms in the doorway with money bags and a padlock cane
The Owner: "I want my website back."Greedlock: "Read the renewal clause."
A clawed green hand dangles a chained contract scroll in front of a map pin wrapped in chains
He never breaks a business. He just keeps it.

Act Two: Captain Rank Lands

The owner watches from the sidewalk as a caped hero streaks across the night sky
Somebody in Georgia was already looking.
Captain Rank in a superhero landing crouch under a streetlight
Captain Rank: "Evening. I hear you can't get your keys."
Captain Rank inspects the chained map pin through a magnifying glass beside a flat ranking chart
Captain Rank: "Chained listing. Starved site. Auto-renew set to forever."They take their cut every month, regardless of your starving business.
Captain Rank cuts a heavy chain with boltcutters while Greedlock swings his padlock cane
Greedlock: "PER THE AGREEMENT!"Captain Rank: "The agreement's done."

Act Three: The Keys Come Back

Greedlock retreats into the dark with his money bags while Bill Moore flees, invoices flying everywhere
Bill Moore: "Captain Rank saves another one from us!"
Captain Rank holds out a ring of keys to the owner in front of the shop door, a broken chain on the ground
Captain Rank: "Your site. Your listing. Your logins. Yours."
The owner studies a public wall board of rising charts, one row marked number three with an up arrow
The rankings go on the wall. Anyone can look.
Captain Rank flies over the lit-up street, the shop door open below and the chain broken on the sidewalk
No chains. No hostages. Checked every month.

What We Promise Owners

Greedlock is made up. The trap he runs is real, and owners usually discover it the day they try to leave an agency: the logins belong to somebody else, the site sits in an account they can't open, and the Google listing goes dark on the way out. We set this company up so that trap can't be run from here.

That's the whole plot. A company that would rather earn month thirteen than lock you into it.
